I am a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) - Brazil. In my research, I use genomic data (WGS) to explore the evolutionary history of the Peruvian fur seal, a hybrid lineage, examining the impact of climate change on the secondary contact with one of its parental species and the implications of this phenomenon for the species’ future. I have extensive international research experience (e.g. Finland, Norway, Madagascar and Germany). Previously, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the Finnish Museum of Natural History (LUOMUS), University of Helsinki (Finland), where I studied the phylogenetic relationships of Scarab beetles from Madagascar and surrounding islands using genomics and museomics techniques.

This study presents a low-cost archival DNA extraction protocol combined with Ultraconserved Elements for insect phylogenomics. The method was tested on rare and historic dung beetle specimens, including holotypes from major museums. The protocol proves effective for integrating historical and modern specimens, offering new insights into insect evolution.
